IT'S
NOT OURS!

And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and
Round me rings…
The music of the spheres"

Everything we think
we own belongs to Him!! There is an old saying that "he or she that
dies with the most toys…wins". I would rather reword that statement
to read: "he or she that stewards the things/toys we have been given
to watch over in His directed best way…wins".
By this, I mean we should be faithful caretakers
of all we possess, including our time, talent, money, and even our own
being. No matter how little we "own", God expects us to be good and
proper "stewards" over it. According to His Word - The Holy Bible -
if we are proper stewards entrusted with a little, He will grant us
more to watch over later. If we are careless or not prudent in our stewardship
of a little (or a lot), chances are we will not experience true abundance
in our life.
Therefore, keep in mind His supreme ownership
of all we have. Be a faithful steward of "His" wealth…however small
or large…helping others, and sharing with those in need and less fortunate…along
the way!!
GOLDEN NUGGET OF BUSINESS SUCCESS: You
can't outgive the Lord!! Back in 1987 when Marty and I started our
billiard entertainment business, I told her of a story I once read about
Mr. Colgate. In the early days of Colgate (toothpaste, etc.), he made
a commitment to God to tithe a minimum of 10% from his business venture(s)
the first year. He did and God provided him a bountiful harvest in financial
growth and other parts of his life. NOTE: In many cases, the returns/blessings
from Him are in ways other than financial gain; i.e., health, friends,
etc.
The giving back from God to Mr. Colgate
was much greater than the 10% he gave Him, so he decided to increase
the giving to God to a level much higher than 10%. Well, to make a long
story short, each successive year Mr. Colgate was blessed beyond measure…far
greater than the amount he gave to those less fortunate and in need…through
an assorted number of worthwhile causes. Year after year, the increase
Mr. Colgate had a heartfelt desire to give was increased by God an untold
number of times. As his business interests grew, Mr. Colgate was eventually
giving over 50% of his wealth to God.
You see, Mr. Colgate believed in the Bible
when it tells us that everything belongs to God. He was simply giving
to God what was already His…through a multitude of "special" contribution
venues. No matter how "easy" Mr. Colgate tried to "outgive" God, he
couldn't do it. It just kept coming back to him over and over again.
I mentioned above how "easy" it was for
Mr. Colgate to try to outgive God. By this, I mean he loved doing it
from the promise of God's spiritual financial principles. He was to
be obedient to God in the giving and any abundance of return would be
a "bonus" to his effort. He cheerfully gave, and he humbly/thankfully
received.
Marty and I have used this same financial
giving principle in our business/personal ventures. And I wholeheartedly
accept the results as nothing short of multiple "miracles"…year after
year…in continued business growth and personal enlightenment. In the
first few years, it was a struggle, as we wondered how a "few" dollars
in the checkbook would pay the bills. We took the initial step of 10%
giving to Him out of what little we had. We believed that God could
take that commitment from us to him and "pay" all the bills. There was
no way we could have kept things current, but God could perform those
"special" miracles to see us out of our financial woes.
He did provide all our needs in increase
in many "supernatural" ways. We were very thankful for His blessings,
and we continued in our commitment to increase our giving in the years
that followed. The end of this story is just beginning, I believe.
Years ago our journey began with His guidance and all His Biblical promises.
It continues today…with renewed vigor on our part to be cheerful in
our giving and thankful for all that He blesses us with.
May all of you struggling financially,
emotionally, physically, and/or spiritually find His love in a "special"
way. Surrender to His call and enjoy the "walk". Know that He is with
you through it all. The journey is not an easy one, but the joys far
outweigh any "stumbling blocks" to our spiritual growth and personal
enrichment.
